Every single note is neither good nor bad. It sounds individually with its own qualities—sometimes loud, sometimes gentle, sometimes high, sometimes low.
But only in an arrangement it can shine, support other notes or ruin the whole composition.
Regarding technology we can find a lot of similarities: over the years we touched a lot of them. Some have lead to despair, others have simply been unusable; a lot of them we fell in love with. But it still is the interaction of those components, their selection and placement, that makes the music and therefor the difference.
